Fantasilandia, Santiago

Doesn't compare to Disney World, but still worth a visit

If you're looking to get away for a day, I suggest Fantasilandia. It's Chile's Disney World, fully equipped with water slides, roller coasters, ice cream cones, and fanny-packs. You can easily spend a half day or full day riding the rides and taking yourself back to your childhood. It costs about $12 dollars to enter, depending on the season. The lines on a crowded day are about 20 minutes to a half hour.


Some highlights: The Boomerang, shown below, is definitely worth the 30 minute wait. It has two tracks that shoot you forward and then backwards, also pictured in the map above.



The Montaña Galaxy consists of several 4-person cars that climbs, falls, and revolves on a track.

If you're into more stomach-jerking rides, try the Evolution and Top Spin.

If you like being scared, do the Haunted House walking tour. It costs $2 but was definitely the highlight of my trip.

To get to Fantasilandia, take the metro to Parque O'Higgins, cross the street and you should see it.

Note that Fantasilandia is closed until December 24 for private events.
