Bring the Tissues, it's a tear jerker
If you're anything like me, you'll sit in shock after the first scene...how can you already be crying? And believe me, it doesn't stop there. It's one sad scene after another until the bitter end. It doesn't even give you a buffer at the end of the movie to clean yourself up before the credits roll. Almost all of the women in the theater gathered in the bathroom to get themselves together afterwards.
Just because it was sad, doesn't mean it's not worth seeing, however. Will Smith and Rosario Dawson were top notch, not to mention a great sex scene.
Don't bother seeing the trailer; it doesn't give you any information. Seven Pounds is one of those movies that leaves you hanging until the last 10 minutes. It builds each character until we really know and relate to them, and then the tragedy ensues. The trailer is worthless because you can't give any details without giving every detail.
Seven Pounds will leave you with a sense of sadness, but a sense of wanting to do random acts of good. In that way, it's comparable to Pay it Forward, but better. It'll make you grateful of what you have and leave you with a little more faith in humanity. It's no holiday cheer, but it's a good movie to see around this time of year.
