Where to Buy Fish in Northern New Jersey
>> Wednesday, December 24, 2008
We go all out for Christmas Eve. We do the seven fish tradition - go out on the morning of Christmas Eve to buy the fish, go to church, and then come back and prepare and fry it all.
If you're a last minute fish-shopper for Christmas Eve, go to Peter's Fish Market in Midland Park, New Jersey. My Dad waited for 2 hours this morning, and the line is still just as long, but it's worth every minute.
Everyone on the 8:00 AM line this morning was treated by free donuts and hot chocolate by the Dunkin' Donuts next door, which added to the festive Christmas Eve experience.
We've been going there for over 10 years and the fish is always fresh, the service is always excellent, and the inconvenience of waiting on line can only be expected to get quality fish like this.
Only the first timers to Peter's Fish Market complain because they don't know any better.
Peter's Fish Market compares to any top notch fish market that you'll find in New York City...but expect a wait, especially on Christmas Eve.
