PADI e learning for Open Water Scuba Certification
>> Friday, January 9, 2009
I recently completed the PADI e Learning course before I did the pool work and four dives. It was really my first experience with an online course like that and I have nothing but positive comments about it.
The e course was supurb and can be used as a model for online education in any subject. The designers of the course did an incredible job. This course is really a forerunner of what is to come with e learning.
The PADI e learning course breaks down everything you need to know to get your open water certification into five catagories. Each category has a number of slides with a voice track and pictures. The voice runs with the slide and you click to the next slide once the slide is finished.
There are a number of quick quizzes along the way that are helpful for the final knowledge review at the end of the section. If you pass the knowledge review, you can take the section quiz.
Once you've completed the five sections and five section quizzes, you can take the final exam at the end of the course. You must finish the exam with a 75% or higher to pass the e course. If you do not pass the first time, you can retake the exam.
This course is ideal for people who do not have the schedule to do a once-a-week night class at a PADI center and who don't want to take time away from their vacation to do it. You can do it at your own pace on your own time. That way, once you get to your PADI center or resort, all you have to do is a quick review, your pool work, and your four logged dives.
I really recommend this course. It's fun and will save you tons of time.
