Waiting for the Monkeys

>> Sunday, August 21, 2011

There are monkeys that live in the area that come around once in awhile when Marlene leaves bananas out for them. The first picture is a flower that grows outside by the front porch. The second picture is Marlene whistling for the monkeys -- unfortunately they never came this morning.

However, (!!) when we were walking in the park in Icaraí a bit later, we saw a monkey on the fence by the entrance. Even though monkeys aren't the biggest deals the Brazilians, it's more uncommon that if we were to see a squirrel. A bunch of Brazilians stopped and this monkey in the picture had a complete photo shoot - and loved showing off for the camera!

This reminded me about how cool the outdoors are here. Monkeys, the beach, really crazy mountains like Pão de Açúcar - Rio really has the best of both worlds - city and nature in one.

The monkey that greeted us at the park!
